I started my career more than 20 years ago with a national tax preparation chain doing tax returns BY HAND - ON PENCIL AND PAPER. It was there that I learned that what I really enjoyed was helping people. Not just with filing the tax return, but in helping people understand what was reported in the tax return, and explaining how they could reduce their taxes.
In the years since, I've worked for international accounting firms and very small local accounting firms, I've worked with large established companies and very small start-up companies, and I've worked with individuals with very simple tax returns, and individuals with very complex situations.
I believe that a good CPA should provide more than just bookkeeping and tax preparation services. A good CPA should act as a trusted advisor.
